Fungal Nail Management

Fungal nail infections are common—and they can be stubborn. Nails may become thickened, brittle, yellow/brown, crumbly, ridged, or lift away from the nail bed. Our Fungal Nail Management service is designed to improve comfort and appearance, support healthier nail growth, and reduce the risk of the infection spreading to other nails or skin.

This service focuses on safe, ongoing management and practical advice. Where appropriate, we’ll also explain the best next steps if you may benefit from pharmacy or GP treatment.

Who this service is for

Fungal nail management is ideal if you:

  • Suspect you have a fungal nail infection (or have been told you do)

  • Have thick, difficult-to-cut nails that catch on socks or feel uncomfortable in footwear

  • Have nails that are discoloured, brittle, or lifting

  • Keep getting athlete’s foot or recurring nail issues

  • Want a professional plan to manage it safely—especially if you have diabetes, poor circulation, reduced sensation, or other medical conditions

What to expect at your appointment

Fungal nails can be difficult to fully clear without targeted treatment. Management appointments can make nails more comfortable, thinner, and easier to maintain, and can support improvement alongside topical or oral treatments where suitable.

If we think you may benefit from:

  • Topical antifungal treatments (often long-term use), or

  • Oral antifungal medication (via GP, not suitable for everyone)

we’ll explain what that involves and what to ask a pharmacist or GP.
